Heaven's Little Bundle of Joy

November 26, 2002

My friend Jill lost an 8-month-old relative, and I wrote this poem shortly after. I'm sure Baby Cody is having the time of his life playing on the streets of gold. My heart goes out to the family. I have also decided (as of March 7, 2011) to dedicate it to the memory of Joshua Haskins, son of another friend named Jill, who lived for 51 days before passing into eternity, due to a congenital heart defect. To Cody and Joshua!

There's a new kid on the golden block
He's Heaven's little bundle of joy
He's learning to walk on the streets of gold
He's Heaven's little bundle of joy
He's learning to talk to his heavenly Daddy
With the angels all gathered 'round
He's learning to fall at the feet of his Creator
Heaven's little bundle of joy

His crying is gone, never to return
He's Heaven's little bundle of joy
He laughs and coos in praise of his Creator
He's Heaven's little bundle of joy
