Lucy's Lullaby

November 30, 2008

I wrote this for my friends Kim & Jason Kotecki, who were expecting a baby. The child was over a week late, and I decided to write a lullaby to see if it would help. I originally titled it "Lullaby for the Little Kotecki", since Lucy was mum about her gender until she was born (several days after I wrote this). When she was finally born, I changed the name.

Come out to the world
Come out and play
Come out--we'll chase the goblins away
Your mommy and daddy are waiting for you
And all of your friends can’t wait to meet you
Your mommy is brave
Your daddy is valiant
You have super parents
They’ll take good care of you

So come out, come out, come out to the world
Come out and explore the great world with your friends
